Dr Jinna Yao is an Australian trained Consultant Urologist and Transplant Surgeon at Westmead Hospital, Westmead Private Hospital and Macquarie University Hospital.

Dr Jinna Yao graduated with Honours from the University of New South Wales School of Medicine in 2008, and went on to complete a Master of Surgery at the University of Sydney in 2014. She then undertook six years of Advanced Surgical Training in Urology across New South Wales and became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2019.
To further refine her surgical expertise, Jinna completed post-fellowship training in kidney and pancreas transplantation at Westmead Hospital, where she gained extensive experience in complex open and laparoscopic kidney surgery. She then went on to complete a robotic urological oncology fellowship at Macquarie University Hospital, where she received advanced training in robotic surgery for kidney, bladder, and prostate cancers.
Jinna is passionate about surgical education and currently serves as the Supervisor of Training for Urological Surgeons at Westmead Hospital, where she is dedicated to upholding the highest standards in the education of future urological surgeons. Alongside her clinical work, she remains actively involved in research and has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications.
She is a sought-after speaker and has been invited to present and chair sessions at both national and international conferences, including the Australasian Prostate Cancer Conference, Surgical Robotics and Innovation Summit, and the Transplantation Society of Australia and New Zealand. Jinna has also spoken at key international meetings such as those held by the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand, the American Urological Association, the European Association of Urology, the World Congress of Endourology, and the World Transplant Congress.
Jinna also serves as an Expert Reviewer for the Health Care Complaints Commission (HCCC).
